Christmas 2012

We had a nice, small Christmas this year.  We went to Corbin to spend Christmas Eve day with Todd's family and then drove back home late to wake up at our house Christmas morning.  It was fun to watch Madison this year.  She caught on right away and was a pro at opening her (and everyone else's) gifts.  She is a lucky little girl who is loved by many.  She was very blessed this Christmas.

We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and have a very happy new year!

Christmas Cookies

I decided we needed to get in the Christmas spirit last week.  So of course, that means cookies!  I had my little elf to help roll and cut out the cookies.  I think she enjoyed the final product as well :)

Thanksgiving

We went to Michigan this year for Thanksgiving.  Todd was able to take a few extra days off so we arrived at my parent's house Sunday evening.  My brother's family arrived Tuesday evening, which made Madison VERY happy.  My best friend Angie and her husband, Josh, took off all day Wednesday to spend time with us.  We were lucky to see them almost everyday while we were there.
The weather was wonderful and warm, allowing us to visit a local park two different days.  The kids had a great time exploring and burning off energy.  My brother turned 30 while we were there so we went to dinner and a movie with them while my parents kindly watched the kids.  On Thursday, many relatives from my mom's side came over for a delicious Thanksgiving meal.  It was great to see everyone.  I miss spending the holidays with all of them.
Sadly, Todd's grandmother passed away that Wednesday.  We left Thursday night so that we could make it back to Kentucky for the funeral on Friday.  We stayed overnight in Corbin and spent time with his family.
I don't think we will make it back to Michigan until after baby #2 arrives so I tried to savor my time.  It always goes too fast!  Maybe I can be sneaky and head up so #2 can be a Michigander like Madison ;) J/K Todd!
I'm the worst at remembering to take pictures.  Thankfully, I have many talented & reliable family members that make up for my slack.  Below are a few pics from the trip.

Halloween 2012

It was a cold Halloween this year but we still were able to go out and enjoy the holiday.  Our family dressed up in sports gear and went to a few trunk or treats in our neighborhood.  Madison was a little unsure at first about all the people dressed up, but she quickly caught on and thought it was the best thing ever!  She help onto her little pumpkin bucket all night and collected candy from everyone she could. I'm really glad she was able to enjoy herself!

Fall is here

Madison and I went with my moms group to a local orchard a few weeks ago.  It was a beautiful day!
Madison wasn't in the best mood so I didn't get the pictures I was wanting, but we still tried to make the best of it.  We went on a hayride, picked pumpkins, saw some farm animals, and played on a playground.  The only thing missing was Todd.

It's been too long!

Life has been busy!  So sorry I have not blogged in such a long time.
We had a really good summer full of swimming at the pool, playing outside, travel, and outings. Below are some highlights.

We traveled to Michigan at the end of July from my cousin's wedding.  While we were there, we took Madison to the beach for the first time.  She was NOT a fan.  She didn't like the sand, the water was too cold and the waves were too big.  She had only been in a pool up until then.  We are hoping she will out grow her beach dislike soon as we are headed to Key West this winter!  We were able to see a lot of family and spend time with our best friends, Angie and Josh.

We love having my brother's family so close!  We have been able to get together with them a few times this summer.  Madison loves her cousin!!

This summer we have been able to spend a lot of time outside :)

 What a great summer!

4th of July

This year we had a low key celebration of the 4th of July.  It has been so hot in Lexington the past week so we didn't try to have a cookout.  We learned last weekend that Madison does not like the loud fireworks so we didn't go downtown to watch the show this year.  Also, the neighborhood didn't have very many because the city put a ban on them due to the drought.  So instead, we stayed home, played a little outside, and then went out for frozen yogurt.  It was a nice relaxing day and a good way to break up the week.

Here are a few pictures from the day.  WARNING... cute naked baby below!

Family Fun

My brother's family sold their house in Charleston, SC and are in the process of moving to Dayton, OH.  They have been staying with us some while they look for a house.  Madison and Christopher have enjoyed the time together!

It was cool at the start of June for a little so we were able to roast a few marshmallows in the fire pit.

We are happy to have their family so close so we can get together more often.

Swim Time

This year we decided to buy a family pool membership for the pool in our neighborhood.  There is a big pool and a kiddie pool.  We are able to use it several times a week and Madison seems to enjoy it.  I hope she loves water as much as me!

Messy, but fun!

Madison can be a picky eater at times, but she has learned she likes spaghetti!  I thought I'd capture one of her eating experiences.

It's always fun to clean up after ;) We have since bought a bib with sleeves!
