2 Months

Madison turned two months on June 30th!  I'm a little late with my post but she didn't have her 2 month appointment until yesterday.  She received 3 sets of shots which resulted in lots of tears and her first fever :(  It was a long, hard day for our little one (& mom).

Since our last post: 1. We celebrated the 4th of July with friends.  It was hot but still fun.  2. Two of our friends had babies so Madison will have some great friends as she grows!  3. Todd traveled to Las Vegas for a reunion with some of his fraternity brothers.  Madison and mom spent the weekend together.  It was great bonding time but it was also nice to have dad home :)

Length - 22inches. 50th percentile

Charleston, SC

Last week we were able to travel to Charleston, SC and visit Aaron (my brother) & his family.  Madison did great on the drive down which was a blessing.  When we arrived, we enjoyed a nice dinner that Shawna made and Christopher (4) gave us a tour of their new house.
Day two, Christopher was very excited to take us to the Charleston Aquarium.  His favorite animal is the albino alligator and he talked about him all day.  We had lunch at a local seafood restaurant and went out for pizza for dinner.
Day three we went to the neighborhood pool and attempted to help teach Christopher how to swim.  He doesn't like to put his face in the water but would practice blowing bubbles and kicking his legs.  He and Todd had a great time playing in the pool. In the afternoon we meet Aaron on his base for lunch and then he gave us a tour of his office.  We were able to see some of the C-17 planes. That night Todd went out with some old fraternity friends and I stayed with Aaron, Shawna and Christopher.
Day four, Todd, Madison and I explored down town Charleston after attending a reunion lunch for Todd's fraternity.  We drove town rainbow row and walked the market.  We didn't stay there very long because it was a little hot for Madison. That night Shawna made another great meal and we went out for some ice cream.  After the kids went to bed, we were able to play some games.  We left the next day and after a long drive, arrived home on Sunday night.  We had a wonderful time and appreciate the hospitality of our family!  Christopher is Madison's only cousin so it was really special to have them get together.

The past few weeks...

Todd's Dad - Fred
Madison made her first trip down to Corbin on June 2nd, allowing Todd's dad to meet her.  He was very happy to see her and hold her.  We also stopped in to see Todd's mom who always loves to have a little Madison time :)  She had been able to come to Lexington several times since she was born and visit.

My parents traveled down last week to see Madison since they hadn't seen her since she was born. She has changed so much in such a short time so it was great that they could see her again.  While they were here, we went to a local winery and also went to Corbin to attend a wedding.  Madison stayed with my parents at Todd's Mom's house.

Tomorrow we set out to visit my brother and his family in Charleston, SC. It will be fun to have the cousins meet!

1 Month Birthday!

Yesterday Madison turned 1 month!  It was also her original due date.  I can't belive how fast it has gone and can tell that the rest of our lives will fly by as well.

We celebrated along with enjoying the Memorial Day holiday by having friends over for a cookout.  It was so hot that we stayed inside with the air conditioning.

The night before we enjoyed a neighborhood cookout at Adam and Julia's.  It was a lot of fun and great to get to know those who live around us better!

Even though Madison still sleeps most of the time, it is fun to see her more awake and exploring sights & sounds.

Our great friend, Julia, gave us this beautiful blanket and embroidered her name on it.  It's pink and grey like Madison's room.  It is something we will keep for a very long time!

Welcome Madison Nicole!!

Our family became a little larger a few weeks ago; sooner than we expected it to!  I (Kristin) traveled to Grand Rapids, Michigan on Thursday, April 28th, excited to attend a baby shower my family was throwing for me that Saturday.  However, to everyone's surprise, my water broke that Friday evening while I was out with my long time best friend, Angie, and her husband Josh.  I wasn't due for another month!  They quickly took me to the local hospital (where I was born 26 years earlier) and my parents met us.  "Where was Todd?", you may be asking ... back at home in Lexington!  He did not travel with me due to a work commitment and had jokingly told me my only job that weekend was to NOT have the baby.   OOPS!  Needless to say, he threw some bags together and my wonderful friend Julia packed the 'baby bag' for him.  Before long, he was off to Michigan in the car for a very anxious 7 hour drive.  By 11pm Todd wasn't even half way there and I was having contractions around every two minutes.  We were very worried that he wasn't going to make it on time.  Thankfully, the epidural that I received slowed everything down and Todd arrived safely at 4:15am (only pulled over once).  We welcomed our beautiful baby girl into the world at 10:50am on Saturday, April 30th (10 min before I was supposed to have my baby shower). Madison Nicole was small but healthy at 5 lbs 11 oz and 17 inches long (3rd percentile).

We traveled home to Lexington that Wednesday after Madison was monitored in the NICU for a night and given the all clear.  The car ride home was long but we made it, happy to be home after such a crazy few days.

Madison's weight was 5 lbs 4 oz at it's lowest but she has made great progress.  At 3 weeks old, she is now 7.5 lbs!  She has out grown her preemie clothes and is now wearing newborn.

We are so blessed to have her in our life and wouldn't change a thing!!  We love you Madison!!
